Our Company

Physical Therapy Specialists of Guilford, CT., a unique provider of advanced practice physical therapy services, is built on the philosophy that advanced clinical training can lead to advanced clinical outcomes.

We believe that by having the best educated team, we will have consistently better outcomes than other physical therapy providers, and our results support our theory.

We take great pride when we can help you even though you have tried other rehabilitation and believed you were beyond help.

We deliver our expertise within a warm and friendly environment of caring and comfort. Each consultation begins with a comprehensive examination, evaluation, diagnosis, and presentation of treatment options that are designed to restore your ability to function pain-free in everyday life.

Offering one of the highest-educated and best trained teams of physical therapists in the country, we treat patients of all ages from children to the elderly.

We have particular and unique expertise in specialty areas such as orthopedics, functional biomechanics, spinal rehabilitation, manual therapy, sport-specific rehabilitation, injury prevention, complex lymphatic therapy, custom foot orthotics, and vestibular rehabilitation.

Practice Director Paul S. Bauer, PT, MSPT, OCS, FAFS, FMR, CLT, brings advanced credentials working with patients in many environments.  He is a diplomate of the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties – Orthopedics, fellowship trained in biomechanics, and certified in manual therapy and other subspecialty areas. (Read his full biography here.)

It is through his efforts and the input of our team that we have become unique in the physical therapy marketplace because of the emphasis we place on education and knowledge advancement.

We offer a residency program for all clinical staff and provide post-doctorate education programs for other physical therapists.

Founded in 2011, we focused from the start on encouraging higher education and enhanced clinical expertise instead of joining the crowd of gym-based physical therapy practices. Our success is due to the intense training of our staff that far exceeds normal expected requirements.

We continue to work in a variety of ways to raise the standard of care in physical therapy.

For example, Paul Bauer regularly lectures to the shoreline community and to other medical professionals in association with Yale University physicians, serves as clinical faculty for Sacred Heart University and Quinnipiac University, has been an invited guest lecturer at the University of Connecticut, and continues to teach educational seminars to practicing physical therapists.  These efforts earned him the Clinical Educator of the Year award in 2016.
